Now here is one hell of a heavy spec dump, a DM895SX:

http://www.truckpaper.com/listingsdetail/detail.aspx?OHID=2276377

8 spoke rears on walking beam (80k?) and a front axle that is probably 23k. Hey john, maybe I can build Conforti another DM800 tractor .

The B81 located in Phillipston MA is about 3 miles from me. If anyone is interested I can take a look for you.

Brian

Hi Brian and welcome to the site.

That sure is a nice looking B-81 but I can't afford it.

Thanks for your support to the hobby.

Are those only 58K rears with 8 spoke wheels? I know they were available with 65s and standard on 80s, but never saw 8-spokes on 58s. If memory serves me correctly, that truck has a 1693 in it.

Hello,John

Sorry for not getting back to you earlier,,,,,,Snow kept me out for a few days,,,,,,,,,But I did call Joey,The day after I found it,,,,with the same questions as you,They must be heavier then what they listed,, also I heard it had a V8 ,,,,,,But I haven't spoke to him in months and the conversation started on this truck and the bias ply tires(because he doesn't know your guy for tires) then went to the gas drilling..... His brother Listed the truck and a couple of CL's and RD's with the broker. Then lost cell phone reception and have not tried him since.

The 1693 would not be original to the truck. Mack purchased four 1693TA series engines from Caterpillar and they were all in the 1977-1978 timeframe. Only three trucks were built and all were RL series for the Western markets. My RL is the sole remainder of the three trucks built. There are no records of the first engine's disposition and I surmise it was used for fitment purposes. As per the engine serial number(s) break downs: The second engine was installed into the first chassis, the third engine installed into the second chassis, (mine) and the fourth engine being installed into the third chassis. Both other chassis have been wrecked and long off the records.

Be interesting to see another 1693TA installed into an R, or variant to see how they made it fit as this engine is "tight" under the hood.

The truck without a doubt had a Cat under the hood. They had it out at Gerhart's show the year I picked up my LM. I knew it had the 8 spoke rears, but I am sure I would have noticed them being on 58s, not 65s or 80s. Been around them quite a bit to know what to look for, and it just did not stand out in my memory.

Have not spoke with Joe or Charles Latona (bad reception where I'm working),, But I did talk to Dan at Kee Equipment,,,He said he has the build sheet for further info,,but told me

it had a V8 for the first year in operation But the customer had bad luck with the V8 and Mack put the Cat engine in to keep this customer happy (JUST LIKE MACK.. TODAY  ),the company from Hazleton bought 4 of them that year ( Joe ,,mentioned the name but I cant remember the name of the company)

Truck ser# is 1086

Dan said he didn't know rear size so he guess on 58's but he is pretty sure he is wrong.
