Got an email from Western Star this morning. Here it is. And just like I said.....a Coronado 122SD with a Star 4700 grill and an ugly interior.

And here we thought Volvo was going to dismantle Mack first, LOL

Anyway, pricing last dump truck, a 122SD spec for spec was 17 grand cheaper than a Star. So I know which one I'd be buying. And it ain't the new Star.

No wait, it has the cool little 'W' mudflaps ahead of the front wheels, that makes it a Star Car for sure!

Does this mean the end is coming for the Western Star steel cab?

Buy a Freightliner SD114 and save even more money.

The International HX is looking better all the time.  Autocar conventional too.

I can tell you 100% for sure........the International HX is a way better built truck than the 2013 and 2020 Star 4900's I was running.

I buddy of mine used to buy a new Star every year or two and said that the quality went down after they left Kelowna. I know a couple guys that worked at WS in Kelowna and those guys were VERY proud of the tucks they built. It only stands to reason that once they were bought by freightliner it wouldn't take long for them to start building them like freightliners.

I was told by a long time western star salesmen that yes the old cab is going away . He said no replacement for the 4900ex hood is in the cards.

I'm led to believe, that here in Australia. The Constellation Cab will be sold here for quite a While.

It will be several years before We get the X series..  But I guess Time will Tell...
