1960 Peterbilt & 1961 Kenworth

Found these two trucks in an upcoming auction listing in the central Ohio area. They look to be in great shape and say they have been stored inside.

Those are very nice.  Those Pete’s share a look with. The H model Mack for sure.

agreed. at first i thought that was an H model and was wondering where the pete was. until i zoomed in on the pic and realized it was not a mack.

too bad they do not have any specifications on the trucks.

That's not a 1960 Pete, those were built from 1952 to 1956. And pretty rare, I don't remember the model IIRC it's a 280.

That was a west coast truck and originally built for a freight company in the bay area. I knew the ornery old fart that

owned the one below a 1955, owned by Bob Shore-he was SDA ornery as hell-wore bibs with a chain drive hat.

The one photo with a load of hay is when Bob owned it after he died it was sold and is pictured below at a Brooks Or show.

 And some more trivia-the house in the back ground beyond the horse, the barn and portable loading shute is Chet Taylors.

I know your saying who the hell is Chet Taylor. Chet Taylor father of Mickey Taylor the owner of the Seattle Slew.

The Pete went for $17,600...that's a lot but it is a rare truck, especially this far from the left coast. The KW went for $7,150.

I was watching the auction, because that Pete being such a rare truck.    I didn’t for see either truck going so high.

No, I don't know any details on them.

The Pete looks like the Pete that was on the AHTS Facebook page recently. If yes it is a 1960 special order and 1 of the last built, it was built from factory left over parts, I think motor is 250 Cummins and 5 X 4 transmission. Facebook comments was that a deceased estate, when alive the owner wanted $40,000 and the buyer at auction said he got it for under half the $40,000 asking figure. Comment was that new owner will restore to original. Motor not running.
