On a 1996 CH600 with a 427, the red hose connection from the turbo to the charge air cooler, sucked out from the clamp and away from the the cooler mouth, where it was clamped. The first time it happened I found a broken clamp and didn't think anything about it, I just slipped the hose end on and installed a new clamp. The second time it happened, maybe the third time the truck was used after the repair, I figured maybe it wasn't tightened enough, but I decided to check the air intake filter and found it to be excessively dirty, so I changed it and I figured, that might have been the problem. Today I got called that the truck lost the hose again, under a load condition, pulling a hill on the interstate. The driver heard a loud pop and saw a billow of black smoke. He pulled off to the side of the highway and called. I went to the highway and found the same hose, either sucked in, or blown off, I'm not sure. Before reinstalling the hose, I checked the suction from intake manifold at the mouth of the charge air cooler where the red hose connects, thinking that maybe there was a restriction in the cooler, but the suction was so strong, it was enough to suck your hand into the cooler. I also checked from the air filter side and all was clear. I wanted to take off the hoses at the turbo to check if the impeller was okay, but the side of the interstate was not really the place to do that. I wanted to bring the truck back to the shop to investigate what's going on. I reconnected the hose and drove the truck back 20 miles to the shop, completely normal without any problems at all, it ran beautifully. I did, however notice that the filter minder gauge was at 8 and the air filter is brand new. Tomorrow I'll get into it and see what I can find. Has anybody had this problem before, or does anyone have any suggestions.
