Trucking News: Hino Pauses North American Truck Production, Sales

Recommended Posts

Isn't that something. Who would have ever thought Toyota would drop the ball like that!

Can you imagine losing sales and production until Oct. 2021. If I was a shareholder I'd be freaking out.

Sometimes when you hear something like this it's the beginning of pulling out of the market.  But with Hino, they are likely going to take advantage of a slack market and forgo new truck sales until they can address their engine emissions problems properly.  Maybe with an all new engine family.  Better strategy than what International and Caterpillar did a few years ago.

What about being a Dealer who Can't sell anything for 9 months...!! Bet that there's very Little (if any) compensation for them..

Unless they already produced a stockpile of current year. I know they sell well in Ontario and Quebec. I see them everywhere.

I know if I needed one, I'd be buying one now before they have to complicate the engines even further.

Good point but I've never seen a Hino dealer that was stand alone as most acquired Hino franchise to supplement other flags they had.  And I would have to believe Hino has taken measures to somehow keep dealers reasonably happy-there are too many ambulance chasing lawyers in this country😎
