I was cleaning up after dinner, and I had the Queen album "Some kind of magic" playing and the song "Who wants to live forever" was on, and my phone dinged with a text message. It was Ed Ackell's son on Ed's phone telling me that Ed passed away peacefully in the presence of his family a few hours ago. Rest in peace Edward. Keep the coffee warm and a seat at God's Truckstop Counter for me. I'll be along sometime. Cancer sucks. That's all I have to say about that. I talked Ed into flying into ABE Airport instead of Philly and got him around locally. He was a cool guy and we talked firefighting often on facebook.- he was a volunteer himself a while back. I have been posting progress reports of my son's welding program at votech school and Ed had taken an interest in watching Cody's progress and was always wishing him well. He brought me a cup of coffee over and we talked for a long time. Then when I was visiting Zina from Florida one time she said "we're going to see your friend Ed". So we drove over and met him for lunch at a nice seafood restaurant, sat outside, and talked for a long time.
