Interesting.

In Europe Renault offered only 390, 430, 470, than 440 and 480 hp E7's. 390, 430 and 470 (I belive) all had in-line injection pump. And 440 with 480 were PLD section E-Tech.

No... No They offered way More>> Maybe a few ratings for the E7. Adding Renault had E9's, 360, 400, 440, 450, 500, 520, 530, 560, 610, 625, 750, 900, 1000 horsepower and I think 850 and a few more. So it was all Renaults: What day or week is it and we can make any horse power engine to match.... Why, because we can or could at the time. Think it was more of a European thing or way of thinking more anything else.

Then add the E6 and other non-Mack engines like: Cummins, Detroit, Caterpillar, there is every horsepower you could think of.

That’s so strange, when you think about it every application of the E7 could have been covered with 3 horsepowers.

That's how it seems to me either. Suggestion could be it was marketing thing also. When a new model was introduced the manufacturer wanted attention of potential buyers. So put something new in the line of things people got already used to.

Sounds like Renault had too many chiefs at the time. I’m sure if Mack’s had the reins back then one wouldn’t see so many different HPs, they would have concentrated more on reliability and performance.
Not saying the E7 is unreliable in the least
