I purchased a r model Mack last year with a twin stick, its an ex plow/sander truck ,now just a cab and chassis (Hell my wife is still mad ). I drove it home and it runs great and shifts fine, steering's a little loose.

seems to be 4 speed with high low reverse

the shift pattern is

1st stick

gear-gear-gear

xxx-gear-xxx

2nd stick

high

low reverse

it pretty cool shifting gears in reverse.

I tried to read other post but they weren't much help.

what is it called 4 speed, 5 speed, 12 speed

5 speed plus a low hole and add that would be 6 speed ant that what he has?

it is what it is, and what it is is a six speed.

Look for 5 postions in the main box. That would be 5 gears and to get a low hole gear put the stick in low or ist gear and then the back box in low. that is 6 gears. The low gear in the back box is to be used in the ist gear in the main box . glenn
