I have a 1925 AC Mack that we restored about 40 years ago.  The jack shafts have developed leaks at the seals resulting in oil soaking the brake shoes.   Has anyone changed these before and are the seals available?  Is it a big project?  Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Ed Shepard

Are they a felt seal?

We soak the felt seals in 140 diff oil O/Night before fitting

RE: Brakes

Wipe down Brake shoe lining with Petrol/ (gas 2 U Lot)

lightly wave the oxy hot spanner over lining to get rid of any oil/grease

May have to do this procedure a cupla times until no more smoke from the hot spanner
