I am pretty sure that tractor (or one like it) is in my "Mack: Driven for a Century" book.  Think it says "Big Snort", or something like that, on the hood.

Will look that up tonight.

"Eagles may soar, but weasels don't get sucked into jet engines."

a friend of mine has a 70's dm with planetary rears in it.

originally a V8 truck, but when the V8 blew up back in the 80's they put a 1710 V12 cummins in it.

rig has 14-24 tires on it. hauls a 100 ton trailer with 12 foot wide 30 foot long double drop deck.

empty the combined weight of truck and trailer is 87,000 lbs.

when you are up to your armpits in alligators,

it is hard to remember you only came in to drain the swamp..

Looks like this truck (from the Mahan collection) has been the subject of a conversation here before.  Look about half-way down, where B66 is helping with the serial number.

In a non-planetary I believe the sw80 was the heaviest offering.  Has 8 spokes and is 9 ft wide.  Late models had 20.25” air wedge brakes. 816117C5-70B3-479E-B9A2-BE5DA175C669.thumb.jpeg.bac0c1fd0587b8e7066ea2ec59ff1dd8.jpeg

I need all these rear ends in my life. Especially the 9 foot wide one. What's the axle ratio? Is it a Mack double reduction?
