The perfect transmission is an 18 speed, has an overdrive and a deep low gear.

With these transmissions you have one or the other,

13 speed you can split shifts on the high side and you will like that if you are traveling in the 45 to 70 mph range alot.

9 speed has a low that you will like on the jobsite.

Both appear to be overdrive models ("X" and "O"), at least.

Does the RTLO still have the "reversed" shift pattern in the 2 top gears?  I know the "old" ones did.  That was corrected by the "X" top plate.

The RTF has the shifter moved forward (the "F").  Not sure if the other one would cause you any issues with location of the shifter.

Might be possible to swap the top plate (use the "FX" version) to deal with both of those issues, but I do not know that for sure.  I'll bet somebody on here will know though!

Those two are fairly close ratio wise as far as low gear and overdrive. The 13 would require at least shortening the drive shaft. The 9 speed top cover will bolt on the 13  . Is it an (F) because that's what the chassis requires (forward shifter)  In my opinion ?  unless you plan on pulling a trailer , the 9 should be fine.....unless you take the muffler off and really like row'n gears

The 9speed is original as far as I know to the truck. If I used the the 13 my plan was to use the use the top plate off the the rtxf if possible and drive shaft doesn’t matter because I took the front drives out so it already needs worked. pulling a trailer would be seldom but would happen. And it would just be a smaller trailer woth small equipment (skid steers, minis) or undercarriage buckets. I appreciate the insite.
