NEWARK NJ MACK FACTORY, TRAIN VIDEO

Hey guys,

 

 

I came across this video on Youtube, it shows a quick shot the Mack Factory on Broad and Vanderpool in Newark (toward the end of the video). 

I thought it was a cool look into the past. It was recently torn down and replaced by a self storage warehouse.

During the demo, I did notice someone saved the two bulldogs that were on the front of the building.

 

Just a point on Newark, NJ. In the good ole days, I believe it to be one of, if not the top city for Mack truck concentration in the 

nation. maybe other then Allentown where they were built. More Mack trucks came through Newark then anywhere else, 

even more then NYC, Chicago, Boston etc. just think of all the freight companies, the port, sanitation, construction, Rts 1&9, NJTP etc.

Then a lot of them met their final place either by being exported or crushed by the many scrap metal places.

 

Ahhhh, I thought the video is cool.

That was excellent you wonder who was filming and why back then quality is amazing for the time I am thinking somebody probably cleaned it up somehow digitally thanks for sharing that was way cool….. Bob

Very good NJ.  And as Bob said, someone did a nice job cleaning that up-can't believe the clarity for something that old.  Also some signs directing you to the White dealer-that too probably  factory branch.  And the streets and neigborhoods looked a lot cleaner than they probably are today.
