Illinois roads

My parents are driving our MR688 from PA to Indianola Iowa. Everything they have heard is that Illinois roads are awful. Can anyone give us feedback? A couple route options:

Rte 80

Rte 74 splitting to either 72 to Missouri or staying with 74 to Iowa.

Anyone know what shape these roads are in? Remember truck is a cabover bobtailing on 20k steer axle. It rides like shit, and my dad is nearing 70!

I’m only familiar with 80 from the Indiana line to I-39, from around I-355  Through Joliet  is pretty tough.  Otherwise not to bad.

I 80 from355 to Morris is kinda rough especially from RT 30 to I 55both directions. And the bridge over the desplaines sucks .road construction from Briggs st to RT 53both directions. I'd rather drive across a plowed field.

I drive it every day in an 90RD and an 05 Granite with Camelback back and I'm 64 hope hes got an air seat.i dont know about 74.tell him to watch the container clowns when he gets by Joliet they olny know fast and rollover

They detoured down to Kentucky and Missouri so they could skip Illinois completely.  I'll be driving the truck back in 6 weeks when the mixer is done and mounted on. I'll have to try and find out what condition 74 is in.  I would take US 34 from Iowa to Galesburg Illinois, then pick up 74 to Indianapolis. Or I'll detour south to Missouri and Kentucky.
