1961H67 Posted November 13 Author Share Posted November 13 Talked to the fellow that owned the local bolt store, it’s a mess also, ( pictured):Told him about losing a lot of stainless bolts I had bought for the LJ , A group of us may go help him get some of his inventory into some shipping containers. ( he’s a small business and he has a eye surgery coming up ) it sure was nice to jump in the car and go get some bolts 10 minutes away. Saturday I was talking with a man who is a lineman supervisor for Laurens Electric Coop here locally and he said this was the worst storm that he has seen in the 45 years he has worked for them. And we did not get it anywhere as bad as Dean's area did. Popular Post 1961H67 Posted November 13 Author Popular Post Share Posted November 13 Back on the LJ , I’m making a wiring harness for the headlights and Turn signals, balancing time cleaning around the shop, and hauling equipment. A lot more of the parts stores and restaurants are destroyed. The River is full of trailers and shipping containers,, little league ball fields trashed for a long time. Popular Post 1961H67 Posted November 24 Author Popular Post Share Posted November 24 It probably could be restored but it does have a good bit of rust on the fenders and around the nose, it’s a good parts truck, I’m going to gut the doors ( but leave them on the truck) I’m thinking of taking the air tank out of the sleeper and air starter off of it and put it on my H Model one day,, I grew up with that sound and I don’t have a truck with air start, and it’s all there,, but I’ve got more important things to worry about for a while. Gathering materials for a bridge to our shop is top priority. Eastern Continental Divide, about 30 inches of rain fell on the divide and followed it from the NC/SC line all the way up to the NC/VA line ,, it literally “ Melted “ the top of Mountains . Popular Post 1961H67 Posted December 7 Author Popular Post Share Posted December 7 Got the doors taken apart on the parts H Model, I think I’m going to be ok on all the parts that got washed away, hopefully I can catch a break on weather and start putting some stuff back in my doors,, I’m still finding a few parts on the creek bank, I had the front end off the first Mack I ever purchased back in 1978 , it was a 59 B61 , it’s been long gone but I saved the hood, radiator shroud, shutters, I had them laying on a parts conex/ container. All I found was the bent Radiator shroud. The Dog was unharmed! Also especially the starter. Those suckers are very very expensive.
