61 Mack Posted March 21, 2022 Share Posted March 21, 2022 I have a 1961 C Model Mack. I am looking for repair parts for the Air-O-Matic steering, Specifically the air safety valve. Any leads on where to get one, or any other replacement possibilities. theakerstwo Posted March 21, 2022 Share Posted March 21, 2022 When you say safety valve i think your talking about the valve that goes in the supply line to the control valve.Years ago i saw them replaced with a simple manual on/off shut off valve.The control valve is the one which is hard to find. mechohaulic Posted April 3, 2022 Share Posted April 3, 2022 that air-o-matic might have helped in the steering ; sure was a pain-in-the-ass to keep running 100%. tie rod cylinder wore out inside or gummed up, 6 bolts would loosen , cyl tipped ,would steer one way better then other,; spot weld corrected some. control valve welded on drag link screwed up alot. when it worked glad it was there; other then that!
