Back (40 yrs or so) when l had my '77 R model. My wife and l would turn NH/ME to MD/VA twice a week. Speed limit was 55 so we strolled along at about 60. Every trip it seemed there was one truck that would pass us two, three, four times. But l'm proud to say my little puppy dog was always the first one to get to the delivery. With our return load of beer or liquor upright and damage free!    .....Hippy

As Electric Vehicles are being pushed down our throats, I was wishing I was a wealthy car manufacturer..   I would build an E.V. with a Battery that is easy to replace, then I would try to encourage other E.V. makers to do the same, with the same style/ shape/ and wired,  battery, .. Then I would propose to have battery shops like gas stations.  You would pull in, get a battery change and leave your battery to be re-charged right there at the battery station.. no different then exchanging the bottle for your gas grill. I know that safe storage is an issue, but, they can be out doors in charging vaults, just in case one goes up in flames.  I know this will help E.V. owners go further in the car, as well as convenient..

anyway, just some silly thinking by me...  Jojo

stopped at a Target store yesterday , they have huge section of parking lot tore up -putting in long line of charging poles.  seems that's called future progress. interesting to see another 20-30 yrs from now where all the expended batteries will be dumped = by then it may be discarded in outer space like trash from cruise ships dump in ocean.

wouldn't call it silly thinking . signs of the future is more like it. question is ::will the vehicles hold all the computer stuff (back-up battery) while main battery swap.

Here is a short utube from 1943 that show swapping EV taxi battery packs for recharging. I don't know how to post the actual video but here is a link:

I am wondering when they’re going to start jacking up the electricity rates even if you don’t use an electric car, we’re all going to be paying more for electricity they don’t have enough of as it is… Bob

May be some day electric cars will be a significant portion of the grid load, not today, but all household loads have been rising steadily. House I grew up in had 60 amp mains, electric stove/oven and my dad's 50 amp welder run off that. Today 200 amp mains are the norm, and that is before electric cars, which can be set to charge in off peak hours and need no more than an electric stove. 300 amp service to residential use is becoming more common. The only area of slight decrease is power used for lighting purposes.

Crypto " mining" uses huge amounts of power for no tangible gain.

Naw, price per killawatt will remain steady, the "distribution, infrastructure" and a zillion other charges will be tacked on to your bill to double or triple it, but the power company will say they haven't raised your electric rate!

I'm old enough to remember there was just one charge on your electric or phone bill, it was for services used. Today, there are 6 or more lines on the bill beyond what you actually  used in electric

Well, I am thinking they’re just breaking it down so you know where everything is going compared to years ago since everything is computerized it’s a lot easier to do that that’s what somebody was telling me a while back. They stick all this unnecessary stuff on there now just because they can with ease.
