I am driving a 2016 CHU613 with the 445hp MP8 (326k mi) and a 13spd Maxitorque. I am hauling a Ledwell Hydratail trailer that weighs 20k and the truck is just a dog (no pun intended). When I put a 40k lb load on there the truck can barely get out of its own way, and empty I can be next to other trucks that are loaded and they pull away from me. Any idea's on what to look into for why this truck is so slow and feels so under powered? I am not sure on gearing I know it goes 67mph at 1500rpm in high gear. Could it be emissions crap? Something else? Any suggestions or opinions appreciated.

In your dash cluster go to gauges, then pressure gauges and scroll down to boost/turbo pressure. With loaded trailer and in a hard pull you should be seeing 30-35 psi. Have you changed tire size? Top and or bottom row of the after coolers are know to split on thoses. Injectors could be worn out . Turbo caked up with soot internally. Lots of possibilities,

just to add here check engine  or lightening bolt light on ?

I was going to just ask the question if this is something that happened all of a sudden or if it has slowly been loosing power over time like having to drop gears now on hills you didn't have to last year. Did you just get into this truck for the first time after driving something else and its its just your perception? Any check engine lights or malfunction codes stored in the ECM?

Thanks for the replies fellas. I am new to this truck first and foremost.

The most boost I have noticed is about 28psi when i have looked at it. Today was the first time I have even grossed near 80k and it was struggling.

There is a CEL i will check what it was for tomorrow I cant remember off the top of my head but I dont think it was for something that would rob power from the truck, I do get an occasional lightning bolt and when that does come on the engine brake will not work i have noticed that.

I have been told by some of the other people that have been in this truck that its always been slow, ill update tomorrow with what the code is for... thanks fellas.

Also between my runs today and yesterday i calculated about 5.5mpg, probably 50% highway 50% rural areas with stoplights and what not, not much idling past a few min unless I'm loading a machine then im on the road again.

The lightning bolt when u flip on the Jake is a bad switch. About 1 a year I replace.

Crazy, I purchased an MRU and was surprised I had to purchase a new jake switch within the first year, guess ill go buy another one for the shelf  on monday. I thought I just had bad luck.

So I tried to pull the engine code using the cruise control speed up and down buttons and that didnt work, is there a way i can pull the cel without a scanner?

Also I finally had a full load, and had to climb a rather large hill on an Interstate with a 70mph speed limit, i ended up in 6L going 30mph up this damn hill while other trucks were flying by me... the most EGT's i am getting is around 775, this doesnt seem like enough heat to me, does that seem low to you guys?

Slow and steady wins the race LOL 🤣. But seriously another thing to look into is the gearing. A lot of these newer trucks have insanely (to me) fast gears to maximize fuel economy, or were specd to run in areas with no hills like the midwest. Put them in mountains with a full load and they will move the load but very slowly.....You could have one of those setups with like 3.08:1 rears......
