I'm curious too..   Years ago i was in a hurry to fix this same issue, to get a DOT inspection satisfied..   I ended up dropping the headliner and splicing the outer lights into the center lights, The owner was very happy, and didnt care about why they went out, just glad they were lit..  not a true fix, however.......  jojo

I was able to see how these lights work on another truck.  The lights are on with park/headlights and go out when “clearance “ switch on end of turn signal lever is depressed.

Now I just have to know if there is a relay involved or if the problem is in the switch.
