I AC is a fire truck and it has a switch in the dash for distributor, mag or both.  The spark is in the left life of the steering wheel and I push it all the way up to start.
My AB has only a mag but has been messed with and has a newer switch on the dash.  The linkage for the spark and hand throttle are gone so I cannot adjust it.   Mike

The firing marks are on the flywheel, take off the inspection and you will find them.  Otherwise place the timing lever in full retard, then just set #1 to fire on TDC (pull out the spark plug and notice the air rushing out.  You can use a flashlight to thru the hole to determine when the piston id TDC).  Then set the mag to fire about 30 degrees ahead of this position.  It's not critical either way, just set to where it starts easily.  Too far retarded and it will overheat, too far advanced it will try and kick back when you crank it.  It's pretty safe if it does kick back, it won't kill you like a Model T.
