Except this one. I didn't take this, but that's a beautiful lake.

This GMC 7000 appeared to be in excellent shape. The tags on it were last good in 2008.

Some nice interesting trucks. I like the hell out of the Diamond T pickup (also the off topic model). Do you remember the owner's name?

From the original facebook post-

"Had the privelege of touring part of the late Mark Smith's collection in the old Lynchburg foundry building. Some really interesting vehicles!"

WOW!!!  What a barn full!!!!  That Diamond T 201 looks in good shape All the stainless is there.. There were only 7000 built from mid 1938 to end of 1949.. Should bring big $$$$!! Tommy, if you can get me the serial number, on data plate on right side of cowl under the hood, I can narrow down the year.

I would, but I don't know where it is now. I looked at what they had outside but we didn't go in the building at all.

There's not too much in those pictures that doesn't have potential. All very interesting stuff......even that thing that looks like a torpedo or something that I have no idea what it is.

i don't remember what that car is, but there were not too many made.

on edit:

i think it was called a "dymaxion" built in the early thirty's

when you are up to your armpits in alligators,

it is hard to remember you only came in to drain the swamp..

Mark Smith, the deceased owner had a huge car collection, mostly original, good condition. I didn't know he had all those trucks. We were in downtown Lynchburg some years ago and saw some of his cars in the Murphy's or maybe Penney's dept store building. Both the main and downstairs were filled. There were also a number of old Harleys and Indians. One of the guys working on the cars said he had another building full, must of been this building and also one north of Madison Heights.

I took that picture and the truck with the welder from way up the street, I should have walked over I guess. I don't know if they were going to park all the vehicles in the field for the auction or put them back inside, or haul them someplace else. They'd better put them back inside somewhere or there won't be anything left of them by auction time.

I saw some more pictures on the "Living in Lynchburg" page of the vehicles they're going to auction. There's an M37 Dodge, some tractors, and even an airplane.

As soon as I saw this picture I knew exactly where they were. Madison Heights, the dump trailers across the street gave it away. I have an appointment at the eye doctor tomorrow about half a mile from there. I might take a look, but the comments on the original post would indicate that the guys working on this job are not exactly friendly.

So, I went to the eye Dr. in Madison Heights today. I rode by those vehicles that were parked to take a look. I probably won't post any more pictures, or go by there again, unless somebody wants me to investigate anything further. I still think it's some pretty neat stuff though.

Right up yonder where the road curves, just over the "N" on the tail of the plane is the doctor's office I went to.

I wouldn't be surprised if some of this stuff ended up at the Keystone Antique Truck and Tractor museum.

There was some old wooden boats out there too, but I didn't get any pictures of them.

Nice looking Impala- oh wait, that's mines, never mind. It's not for sale.
