GoldDogTrucking Posted October 21, 2022 Share Posted October 21, 2022 I’m sure it’s been asked several times on here but to save myself time trying to find it does anyone know how I could get the big horsepower and torque tune for my 2011 MP8? You’re gonna have to find a good aftermarket tune and I’m not sure of any off the top of my head. Let me ask around. I’d like to hear from someone that’s used them before I buy one, though. I gross 84k stopping and starting all day long so I want to make sure I don’t lose my reliability. Most guys that are deleted come here for help because no one else will touch their truck and then they never come back after they get help. GoldDogTrucking Posted October 21, 2022 Author Share Posted October 21, 2022 The sticker says 415 horsepower but the original computer died and I had the shop put theirs on it because it was tuned for the deletes but the horsepower setting is unknown. I’d guess mid 400’s. I was after the Mack file so I didn’t have to worry too much about the EGT’s. Export MP8 engines with no EGR /DPF or DEF we’re limited to 440 HP. The Mexican Volvos running around here are D13 (same as MP8). They have EGR but no DPF/DEF and they are at 465HP. The fully deleted 445-455 and 505’s around here have suffered from cracked/chipped exhaust valves which wiped out the turbocharger as well. The above issue happens to non deleted engines as well have seen 3 in my area drop a chunk of valve and take out a liner and piston! that said the extra heat from an improper delete won't help the situation! Any Idea what causes the chipped valves, I just replaced the head on mine because of this and I'd like to hopefully prevent this from happening in the future as it was a PITA for me to do. fjh Posted November 30, 2022 Share Posted November 30, 2022 This in the case of the engines we saw was a random issue! call it a bad part/ luck of the draw! We also saw some that had valve recession meaning the valves sink into the head screwing up the valve set! and burning valves! Bad batch of valves we suspect! others may have other observations! I am no guru on these! Have seen some of the weaknesses is all! Just sayin!
