EdgarE7 Posted November 2, 2022 Share Posted November 2, 2022 (edited) I have 1995 mack e7 350 mechanical pump. Removing for rebuild and to turn up. I would like to advance the timing while removed. After removal do I retartd the truck 2-3 degrees then install pump with timing light? Ok, I was off big time. 1. Remove pump with ab light (Rebuild) 2. Reinstall without cam gear 3. Advance timing off flywheel 4. Then use ab light to time pump, then add cam gear. I don't have the exact specs for your engine just used those as examples! model years seemed to dictate timing usually 19 to 24 area! Probably emissions related!
