So nothing came out drain but system was full, right?

So is the drain plugged with snot from inside the cooling system?

Seen systems with enough crud in them to block an inch line, so radiator cores would be definitely blocked.

Which would cause the pump to cavitate, creating air bubbles in the system.

Wrong mix of coolant/ anti freeze can react with each other, as well as poor quality/ hard water can cause corrosion/ rust in system.

Just something to think about.

Spot on Joey, seems like Mike can get this sorted without having to take it to a workshop.

No bubbles with belt off sways toward pump cavitation from blockage/ foreign matter in system, as does nothing coming out drain on cooler.

Nothing that couldn't be fixed by pulling a few hoses and back flushing. Also some good cooling system cleaners out there worth a look at. Worst case pull the radiator and have it rodded .

See how he gets on.

I like the idea of a coolant flush.. an old timer taught me years ago to use Cascade..  It was for oil, however,. It cleans..  Jojo

Interesting. Are you talking about Cascade automatic dishwasher powder E035E83C-D4E4-47D8-A6D2-B01793D019CA.thumb.jpeg.855ca0d15b97113141b1b4d31b5d2134.jpegdetergent ?

I've used this with pretty good results with rust in systems.

https://costeffective.com.au/product/rmi-25-cooling-system-treatment/

Don't know if you have a similar product over there.

Anyway, any news on how Mike's getting on?

  • 2 weeks later...

ok guys got everything apart

took all hoses off from reservoir tank took hoses from top bottom of radiator

took hose from side of motor to transmission cooler

flushed everything out with water

put all hoses back on filled it with cascade let it run til it was blowing hot heat inside around 150 temp on gauge

now I open reservoir cap the water is still cold I can put my finger in the water not hot at all

I'm thinking of changing out the thermostat

what do you guys think

I figured try the cheapest part first

or should I just do water pump and thermostat at the same time

thanks guys you'll been a great help
