I keep forgetting that they actually put  the D12 ( and possibly D11/D13 ) engines in boats. The marina I keep my boat at has Carver yacht  with twin D12’s in it. The owner talked to me about hooking my laptop up to it .

Yea it seems the tools for these engines on the marina side have much better pricing. Maybe you can get some side work within reason and get a free boat slip haha. Wow twin d12s in a boat sounds like some serious power. I couldn’t imagine working on these engines in a boat. They pry have to come out to do any legit work on them.

That boat was about 50’ long and  14’ wide and so there was room but when I’m there it’s to play and not work, lol. Mines 12’ wide with twin 5.3’s and I pay someone to service it, I hate working on my own stuff

I hear ya. It’s the last thing you want to do. It’s typically how it goes. My time is worth more than money I guess. Your boat sounds like a quick one. What is it? Where are you from if you don’t mind me asking?

It’s a cruiser and pretty fast for its size .  We stay/sleep on it Friday and Saturday nights through the summer months. The dock life is so much fun we sometimes never leave the marina. We roam around KY and Barkley lakes. 37 footer and probably the easiest boat to drive I’ve ever had. Some days I barely touch the steering wheel. Just use the throttles to steer. 342 Rinker Fiesta Vee is the model, popular model around here.  There are 2 others here at the marina.

That’s a really nice boat! Cabin Cruiser, id like to get one someday. I guess the steerable props make that thing super easy to maneuver. I love the water and dock life. I completely understand about just staying on the boat and never leaving the dock haha. Music, grilling, beers, etc. usually other people do the same all around at their slips too so it can become a big party. Sometimes walking distance to the bars too. Good for you man I guess you guys can wait for May or June.

There is a depth measuring tool to tell how many if any shims are needed to install a new sensor. Really the only time you need it is if you have had the upper timing gear cover off or replaced the cover. Honestly, it’s usually the harness or harness end. I’ve only replaced 1 or two of the sensors ever. Pull the sensor and check for damaged end.  Using a ohm meter you should have 775-945 across the pins on sensor.

Hello sorry to hijack this post but i have pulled the timing covers off my mp8 to do the idler gear and now that its back together its hard to start ( didnt have the issue before) i have bled the fuel system in 3 diffrent ways and it isn't loosing prime so i dont believe its fuel or injectors related. I was wonder could it be the cam position sensor doing this?

Ok.... If you didnt mark the plugs on the rear you can easily get the crank sensor and cam sensor swapped. They are the same plugs. (Bad design). I have made that mistake a few times.  It will be hard to start. There a 3 plugs back there that are the same, 2 of them cam and crank can reach to each others sensor.. Try to swap them. My guess is the interior puzzle is back together ?  :)

Thank you for the reply i dont think its pluged the wrong way as i pulled out the crank angle sensor with the plug and put it back together. The truck starts and runs just has to turn over alot before it dose it also is derated at the moment ill have to put the computer on it my onboard dyonostics when i click on engine says operation failed so will have to take it somewhere.

Being a tooth off on the cam gear will set the cam position sensor code. I’ve done more than once , especially on the MP7 where they have timing marks on the front and rear of camshaft. The marks on the front of the cam are not inline with the rear of camshaft. So always remember on the MP7 to use the rear camshaft marks for timing.  Luckily on your MP8 it only has timing marks on the front of camk
