I do like my old CS Listers, still made new today in India 

 CS is cold start

Start them when it's freezing with a crank handle just fine

They do about 650 rpm full noise

 

They had them on farms all over Australia, right up into the 90's in the more remote regions and probable still do have them

They just chug away 

I had 2 cylinder ones on 8 inch irrigation pumps, chug chug chug, 24 hours a day 

Twice a day pull the rocker cover off and squirt some more oil in

They are good motors and diesel as well

i am partial to Onans. but the Listers cant be beat. 

i have an Onan 15kw air cooled natural gas unit, and a 17.5 KW water cooled diesel.

plus a 5kw portable, an 10 kw gasoline burner, and 2 minis. a 1800 watt ryobi inverter set,, and a 2400 watt yamaha inverter set.

whatever you do, steer clear of generac units. they are worse then harbor freight units.

my harbor freight 7500w  runs and powers up great...  starts 1-2 pulls,  does what I need..  its 5 years old, and I trust it..

did not mean it that way JOJO. the problem with HF units is when they break, parts are almost impossible to get. 

but properly maintained(which most do not do) they run for damn near forever. 

unfortunately the generac got the name generjunk because they are the "most selling generator in the world" 

mainly because when they will not run and people take to a repair shop, the shop says "it is not worth fixing. but i will sell you a new one" and the idiots buy another one just for it to break again and not be worth fixing. 

my newest Onan is 35 years old. and has 42.6 hours on it.

the 15.0 JC is an 1984 build, and has 568 hours on it. 

the 10 kw is a 1956 build. no hour meter. it was the backup generator for the West Windsor State Police barracks until it closed in around 2005. it was purchased by the retiring station mechanic, who sold it to me in after he bought a larger set in oct 2012 the week before hurricane sandy hit. 

the newest of the little ones is the ryobi, and it alredy has close to 25 hours on it.

no sweat tjc,,   I just take care of my stuff, if neglected I dont know how long it would last..  because of what it does, I make sure it is road ready..  all good.. and yes, if the genny part fails, the unit is done..  not worth fixing for sure..

Somebody gave it to me not running haven’t got it apart, but it looks like it might be a couple of hundred bucks to get her going said it was not that old but it took a shit

Well, according to the only parts house I

I can find that sells for parts for it  piston kit, connecting rod and gasket set around 200 bucks plus shipping also ordering 4 engine mounts  thier all dry rotted everything 200
