Matts B-73 project has become an inspiration to many. keep telling yourself == "I can do it I can do it ! the B-73 WILL ALWAYS  be the first place trophy truck= your goal is to try for second place. with all the sanding, don't think I have to ask = are you wearing a good quality mask?? fiberglass dust is way bad news.

Yes, that was my old lady suggested I picked everything up at Home Depot mask full suit and I goggles. I was not wearing them yesterday since I was mainly sanding paint but thanks for your concern. With all that equipment on, I can just keep my good clothes on. I don’t have to switch to work clothes yes,the more I grind the more I find … god dang just this nose is going to be quite the project, my brother… bob

Does any of the bolts stick out on the inside? If so you may be able to use a vice grip and screw them out from the inside

Sorry I missed this one. There is actually enough on the outside to grab onto but after spraying them numerous times they still will not budge.

There's a good practice to spray potential spots once in a week during a couple of months or more before you get to the spot. But this way you need to pre-figure points of your activities. When pre-plan a job walk over a rig and look crytically on what you're going to part out in the future and which points would go being a PITA. Starting from that moment you may spray them with liquid wrench or even ATF if the while ahead seems long. Than on a certain lazy day you take a wrench and try loosing each of them. Those which go get fresh portion of ATF (to be oiled in the threads) and slightly tightened back on if needed. Those which don't make you keeping them in mind for additional job time and fight.

Seems to be very true. But on the other hand the hood is going to be a 1/3 of the whole truck's look. Another 1/3 is the wheels :)

Took your advice vlad… walked by the truck last night and grab the WD gave them a  shot I will continue this for quite some time. Still have a lot of work to do on that front end. Hell,,,, it was a great idea. Let’s see what happens. After 60 -70-80 attempts or so,,, can’t say I didn’t try lol bob

To get the busted bolts out of my fiber  glass bonnet we used a heat gun with a barrow tip

Mal was on the heat gun and I was poised with tools in hand

We got all the screws out of the grill,  the steel in behind was stuffed but the big stainless screws that held the grill in all came out in one piece

Also could MIG weld nuts on to the reaiming screws that have bits left and try the same deal

Apply (your gunna laugh) candle wax to the hot screw or bolt and when it cools it sucks the wax in

Either way, Mal anf I had them all out in  a few hours

OK put the truck in position and finally remove the broken bent shutter extensions that has been driving me crazy for way too many years through them in  recycle bin more sanding  after  breakfast. I am ready to go ha ha.. yeah of course I can’t post a photo

Lil by Lil goes along way and you're doing great 👍.  I'd lather that baby up with Aircraft remover or Brake fluid under Seran Wrap. Strip that paint off in No time. Also if you have a Harbor Freight close they sell a blasting gun and Blasting media(acorn shells) that work great.

Thanks for that I’m roughing out with a DA sander I was out there with all this ambition and drive a while ago decided to at least get all the red sanded off today then it kept on raining on and off finally started coming down pretty good I said ok I’ve had enough for today closed everything up …. Worse part is it’s too early to start boozing but sitting here bored to death we both decided not to do all the heavy sanding in the garage on account of dust landing on everything would have been perfect to drive it in there to continue

rain outside just means you go to interior  work. there's always the pop up tent idea . you can drive it into the garage far in without hitting door ; your wife won't mind the fiberglass dust floating through house will she !!🤣

We both decided just while I’m doing all this heavy sanding I’ll do it outside not sure if I mentioned that especially the fiberglass kind of funny didn’t notice this till yesterday,,,, the more I do hear  lately the worst the truck is looking .. bob

when you are up to your armpits in alligators,

it is hard to remember you only came in to drain the swamp..

I agree with a lot of the posts, Bob..  I have been picking on my boat that sank 11 years ago.  Its a small boat, but its a cool little boat.  I had to shovel out the dirt, and leaves and pecan tree sprouts out of it, the whole floor is rotted. I removed the old floor and have cleaned it  pretty good..  yes, the floor needs a lot of help, but I will get it done. I will re-enforce the hull, then put 2 sheets of pressure treated ply wood on it, one as a sub floor and then the one that will have the carpet on it..  My big challenge is, do I re-biuld the 1969 mercury gas hog that was on it  65 HP 4 cyl. 2 stroke..
