Weather has been wacky everywhere. Ours right here isn’t much different than it usually is, but we usually have a lot more snow and rain this time of year. It’s been really dry.

Lucky you with it being dry...I can put up with the cold an extra coat sorts that but rain I cant stand....

Paul

Oh yeah Larry it’s ridiculous. At least around here. I didn’t think I was going to be able to find them anywhere. That’s one thing the Internet is not very much help with I was having the same problem up to $500 for each tire plus 240 shipping till  landed this little deal bob

Even if it doesn't go far, going on newer tires that aren't bombs is a plus.

2002 I paid $250/ tire and $50/ rim = $1800 total.  It's gone up just a bit.....

Tires getting crazy expensive. We're going to have to go back to using these.

Although I never liked the pistol grip style. The old cross handle type was much better to use. But apparently they no longer make them. Seems funny because all the old time tire guys that regrooved a lot only used the cross bar handle type

oh tire prices have gone outa control i think around 3-5 years ago they went way up in one jump,,,then covid was blamed for everything back ordered for quite a while, and many companies decided to bring everything back slowly and jack up all the prices,,,,right before i retired mechanic was telling me they still have issues getting fifth wheel grease .....come on now,,,theres only so many stories you can hand us...bob

Regrooving tires is like the present day so called mechanics, can’t rebuild nothing, just replace the whole item!  terry:MackLogo:

Re grooving went away, because once you re-groove you can't re-cap.

Cap gets more extra miles out of the casing than you'll get re-grooving.

also re grooved are not allowed on steers, caps are (trucks not buses)

Caps on steer axles ?? Ok,

Fine on anything but a bus. It's done all the time. Floats on the front of trash trucks are really common. And I don't know about now but UPS used to run them on steering axles all the time.

People say "Illegal" all the time over truck driver's tall tales. They all used to say frame welding is Illegal. They say straightening or welding an axle housing is illegal. If you challenge them on it they claim the welds all have to be done by a "Certified Welder". If you ask them "Certified by WHO??" they can't tell you. That is because there is no certification required to weld truck frames. "CERTIFIED" is mostly a salesdouches buzz word. Like "Certified Pre Owned"
