Trying to get our 1930 BC running. It was cranking earlier but now we have nothing at all not even a click. I just replaced the battery today with a heavy duty because the old battery was done.
It is a 12volt negative ground system.

Could it be the ignition coil?

Sound more like a loose or broken wire between the starter switch and the starter solenoid????

Ok I will trace that. Thank you

We have a distributor and magneto as well as a generator. Not sure if this has anything to do with it. We are trying to learn and research but coming up with little info

Also Check the ground connections between the battery and frame also coming off the engine the point where the wire end connector is crimped on to the wire as well a little corrosion between the wire and end connector hard to see but problematic

As D-Day said check all your wire connections from the battery to the starter and the small wires that lead to the ignition switch and starter switch and back to the engagement solenoid on the starter.. With not even a click means a loose or broken wire somewhere???

I could be way off here, so please disregard if so. I was under the assumption that early Mack’s were of the 6 volt variety. This comes from fire trucks I’ve worked on. The earliest being a 1934 BG. If so, 6 volt parts don’t always do well getting 12.

Time to bypass everything and use jumper cables from a battery to the starter.  That would eliminate all connections.

Sounds like starter is cooked if all you did was replace the battery.  Is it supposed to be 6 volt?
