besides the $$$ main difference is ::what is the unit going to be used for. ???  bronze/ brass always better then rubber .  even in the "dinosaur days" cam bushings were bronze vs plastic. maintenance also plays a major part in vehicle set up.

I have not seen 44 rears set up with soft bushings before but I can see it would not be to bad with a good set of polyurethane bushings if your not loading heavy regularly and maxing out the trunion shaft is the same diameter for the 38 and 44 but the axle housings can be heavier for the 44,000 check the rear right side of the housing for number code stamp for the axle housing rating

Sideways torque arm? Rubber doesn't have as much resistance to keep spring packs straight, so your axles will tend to wander more.  We have a truck with 38k rubber bushed camelback and the tires will wander as much as 6 inches out of alignment backing up in turns.  Truck doesn't take long to hit this point after putting new bushings in.
