Mh653's are 3406 Caterpillar powered and Mh652's are 3208 powered. Only 4 of the 3208 powered ones were made which isn't surprising.

If I remember correctly the C-15's are 14.8 liter and C15's are 15.2 but I might have that backwards. It might also only be the C15 ACERT's that were 15.2 liter.

MH653 - Caterpillar

6x2 - single drive axle

6x3 - tandem drive axles

A MH652 would be a Caterpillar powered single axle.

Here is the link to a YT video explaining the differences in the CAT 3400 family engines.

Noted and fixed thank you. I have no idea where I got the idea of the model number denoting the model of engine. I did read something about the 3208 being offered in the Mh but I have never seen or heard of one.

I am "guessing" the MH642/3 were Detroit engines?  Anyone know for sure?

Yes Detroit. Only the 6V92 was offered between 1984 and 1985 from what I understand.

34 MH642 were built and 52 MH643 were built.    No MHs were ever built with 60 series Detroit.
