not quite following what you mean. 

you want to go from the old style like this:

Chrome Old-Style 13 Speed Shift Knob For Eaton/Fuller | AUTOMANN USA

to the new style like this:

GENUINE EATON FULLER TRANSMISSION 13 SPEED SHIFT KNOB MASTER VALVE ASSEMBLY

you should be able to just swap  them as long as the new knob threads onto your shift handle. 

than figure out the proper routing of the air lines.

it is hard to remember you only came in to drain the swamp..

Hell I only drove two of them last one was around 1990. It seems to me it only had two positions also but there was another switch on the side of the stick for the high and low bottom and top 5-2 speed for the high-end splitter sorry too long ago I can’t remember but I’m pretty sure there’s a replacement Try Raleys they have everything good luck… bob
