Memorial day

another summer holiday is here=Memorial Day.  Flags are flying every where, stores are selling flags ; people are burying, ask many "why did you buy/ fly a flag?" most just reply = everyone else is.  wonder how many youngster know or care why the flag is what it is. ole Bettsy Ross made the flag in the day differently.  how many stripes ?? 13 = why 13; represented the original 13 colonies. stars are for states. 

most important = Memorial Day . how grateful the memory as seen passing so many cemeteries with the thousands of flags flying. a small way of "THANK YOU  to the many who gave us the freedoms we have.

the grills will be fired up and the food /drinks consumed ; starting the summer season. to all a safe and positive summer. 

and to those who served//serve   Military AND law enforcement, then and now ++ A very special  THANK YOU

Roads here are full of brain dead idjiots going down da shaw....already, and it is only 12:30. Parkway and rt 9 bridge over Raritan river in jersey are at a dead stop.took me 45 minutes to go 1/2 mile. And at least 50 cars followed me as I got off to cut through town on my way home.

The red Stripes honor the blood shed for our Freedom-legend has it that Ol'Glory hangs limp and unmoving when a Soldier Dies on the field of Battle. Also the Blue Represents the UNION of the States and White Represents Purity and Trueness and also a new beginning. Thanks to all that have served and whom are still Serving. I'm thankful that I can serve and Support The greatest Country on Earth By Being a Trucker!!!

Thank you to the ones that gave all, to the ones that have served and the ones serving. We placed flags yesterday at the NH State Veterans Cemetery. Thank you again, Fred and Nessa.

The muffled drum's sad roll has beat,  The soldier's last tattoo,                                                                                  No more on life's parade shall meet,  That brave and fallen few.

I won't receive a Flag at my Tombstone either but maybe some little kid that is all grown up and I had an influence on in their little days or maybe even one of my own (IF that day ever comes) will place a little chrome Bulldog on top and Smile. Both of my Grandfather's served My daddy Served One of my Uncle's Served, Few of my cousin's have Served and one is still enlisted with the Army Reserves. I've a lot of Friends who are Veterans and I've had the honor of Marching in Parades with them. I've stormed the beaches of Normandy,Swam the Rice paddies of Nam,SEEN the sunset in Korea, Seen the Ships of Pearl Harbor, etc etc....And didn't even have to Leave the country all I did was take time to listen to Their Stories and Showed I cared.

Not many scraps around the world your mobs been in that others haven't been in alongside, come to think  of it there will be some there that wont mean a thing to people in the U.S.

Respect to all the men and women from all the countries keeping it a good and decent world

Australia and New Zealand Army Corps   ANZAC day is April 25, Australia's Memorial Day.  l had to look it up and all the info that went with it.    .....Hippy

Hippy thats exactly what it is, it's the day both our countries first fought together as our own countries

It was a terrible mess that we never did any good at

We lost a huge amount of troups in a very short time, both countries have never forgotten 

The looney left are trying their best to change this but the ANZAC day parades are just getting bigger and bigger, the young generation have really embraced this

School kids raise money to fund trips to Turkey to be on the beach were the troops landed, it is a big thing to Australia and NewZealand 

Anyway not worry it is memorial day in the U.S. and we all must remember the price people there have paid for our freedoms that we now take for granted

We must never squander our freedoms no matter what country we are from

I will have the honor to drive three WW II veterans in the parade on Monday in DC. This will be the fifth time doing this. There are thirteen veterans from around the country, that number is down from about 25 in 2018. Our group is also having a hard time finding pre war cars. There are only four this year. Mine's a 1941 Cadillac Limo. It is so interesting to listen to those guys when they meet and talk about where they were and their shared experiences. It's a twelve block trip and takes about half an hour.

I meant NO Such think Mate....I honor all men and Women when I think of Memorial day no matter where they may be. I was just talking from My perspective that there's so many people who all they do is complain and whine about the government and this issue and that issue etc.....And I always say if you don't love it leave it....So many everywhere around here are all about this Erasing our history and cancelation of everything that teaches about it or mentions it....And I say they can leave too and go live in a third world communist country and then see how great we have it here. I know that we've never been alone in any Scraps that our military has ever been in...My Grandpa served along side the Aussies in Korea and drank tea with them in Camp and he made alot of good friends and he had nothing but the highest respect for them Aussies as he called um. We actually Manufacture tanks right here in My Home town and they get Kangaroos stamped on the back quarter panel and sent to Australia. I mentioned no disrespect to any other countries military cause actually without the joint effort and banding together as Brother's in time of war We'd all be flying the Nazi Flag and Speaking German....Or later on flying The Japanese Sun flag etc.......

can't think of many other honorable opportunities that would top that, sadly as you wrote the numbers of survivors is slowly dwindling down. three of my uncles were in WWII.  two never talked of their experiences. one was involved at battle of the bulge ; survived being a P O W, received the PURPLE HEART .

after morning of watching grandkids for couple hrs, then chasing parts, I stopped at coffee/donuts shop which seems to be a gathering place for veterans. approaching door two Veterans were walking out. after a Salute and Thank you , asked them to look at my jeep back window which has decal ::NEVER FORGET OUR VETERANS FOR WHAT THEY HAVE DONE FOR OUR COUNTRY. I received a Salute /thank you back  as I noticed one Veteran had to wipe his eyes . the Viet Veterans were treated with such disrespect up on returning . surviving WWII /Korean / Iran/ and others need to know the American people will not let them be forgotten.

That's what I'm talking about....My Grandpa always said that I should've  been my age back in the old days when he was younger etc. According to one online test I took awhile back I should be in my Seventies right now lol....
