Wow, pretty trick story thanks for that and yes, I have been on iron way further than that right on the same page….. 5060 miles lots of times as long as you’re on snowpack you can go quite a ways without even scratching any of them once you hit the wet pavement ok now they start wearing out. And yes, 40 miles is a long way.

and yes, I am glad I’m over them never have to touch a single chain ever again and yes, I have had way more than enough of them frankly I’ve had way more than enough of the whole racket ha ha I’m sure you can understand the good old days are all gone My wife keeps preaching on there old man you’re almost to the end of the race 12 more weeks you got this

Pretty much the same deal here Bubba got to fly all the way to New England for a full bellies. We can get them here in a few places, but they’re not as big as they are back there and they’re kind of tough. I don’t know what’s up with that

we thought it was toughen up. You have to walk a mile for a camel fly 3000 miles for seafood… lobster is really good out here. I’ve had it numerous times and I’ve always been pretty impressed. I don’t know what the deal is with the clams. Maybe there’s  just not really a big call for them out here.

I'd walk a mile for a camel?  I know the phrase..  of course if i smoked a camel cig. I wouldnt be able to walk another mile to get another one,  just sayin

Well, getting back to the main subject here- I only chained up once in my life. A guy gave me a set of chains that fit my Ford Ranger pickup because he didn't need them anymore. We had a pretty deep snow one time, 6 or 8 inches anyway, and I put them on pretty much just to try them out. Drove out the driveway and over to the beer store and back, no problem.

Still off track here Bob,  Now lets get back to deliscious truck stop food.. 🤣

Well, I’m not sure about that. Joey. Good luck finding it two big truckstops we had right here had fabulous food. I used to eat at both of them all the time. I probably mentioned it now neither one of them. I wouldn’t send anybody there either and yes, I smoke camel cigarettes For about 15 years then somewhere around 1990 cigarettes in my area took a real huge jump and price and I started smoking generic brands and they did not offer nonfilters so I had to lower myself and start using the condom type ha ha

Waiting for a bus I have to go pick up the old ladies explorer downtown and very fortunate. The bus stops almost right in front of my house and stops right in front of the repair shop downtown Buck 50 can’t beat it. A taxi would probably be about 40 bucks or more. Yes now I’m way up Joey help me out.

Anybody remember "Arlene's" In Battle Creek, MI? Used to make a Friday night pot roast to die for!  about a mile or so off the Interstate on the old US hiway. I'm sure gone or sold to new owners by now.

Arlene's IS Still there

Back in the 90's "Arlene" was in her 80's, but every or every other Friday she made a all day long cooked pot roast with the veggies. It was popular with the locals and us truckers.  I know the "stop" was re-modeled sometime in the 2000's but don't know if it changed hands. Anyway you look at it, I doubt the cooking has remained the same.

Probably not bud not only they can’t find anybody to work these days. Hard to find cooks that are proud in thier trade. These days plus I heard most travel centers these days order  of frozen food. They just throw it in the nuker hand  you a hot plate of boring food

Not sure if you guys have Olive Garden out there I don’t really care for the place because their food is very boring and that’s what a girl told me that used to work there most of their shit comes in frozen they just heat it up and serve it and their commercial say when you’re here your family yeah whatever man I’d rather take a chance Burger King

Yes Reno it’s really hard to find Italian food here. Also fried chicken seafood, Chinese and China food good luck believe it or not the best China food I’ve had here was at a supermarket  China express. At raleys I’m sure you fellas never heard of it. It’s an expensive supermarket, chain northern Nevada. And northern California.

By the late "20 teens" most of the places with a non chain restaurant were struggling if not closing or being bought out by the big chains. Covid put the nail in the coffin of those that were trying to hang on. Those that do manage must be good enough to bring in the locals on a consistent basis.

I made sure during covid to tell the places that made the effort that their efforts were appreciated, and would tip them with a large tip. Most of these were not truckstops but restaurant that were near by a place I could park a truck.

I tended to 2 lanes and the older "Mom and Pop" places that were much more common in the 80's. If the money isn't there, the place will not survive and fast food will take over.

We went back to our favorite Mexican restaurant after Covid. We left $100 tip to the waitress. It was worth the bread to see the chick chasing us out the door and couldn’t thank us enough. We told her it wasn’t anything at all you need it we do not  neither one of us miss any work at all and the old lady never missed 10 minutes of work during that and in fact my wife was working for bicycle supply warehouse and they were beating her to death with overtime essential business.

as I mentioned, Geoff truckstops are all different now all they want is  kids food and that’s all anybody wants nowadays most of them. Just stop there to piss in their parking lot and keep on rolling. of course it doesn’t matter to me anymore anyway, I really don’t need them now myself. I do all meets and turns with Fedex. And even that will be ending soon.
