Yes. We always pressure test before putting turbo back on . We clamp on the Mack/Volvo 9998288 aftercooler test plug on the RH side of the aftercooler. We made a turbo /exhaust manifold block off plate out of some flat steel. We bolt it in place of the turbo. We then pressure up the after cooler pluck off plate so it pressurize the aftercooler , intake manifold and EGR system. The leaks show up quickly.

Thank you very much.  I think I'm loosing boost there.  We just finished putting a new egr cooler on and the boost has been down a few pounds.

It’s one of the most hated things about the MP engine from a technician’s point of view. Getting that floating collar lined up and sealed can be a pain. Sometimes you get it the first try or you spend an hour messing with it. If the elbow is ever  completely removed I use a wood splitting wedge between the elbow and back timing cover to hold the elbow in place while you get the clamps started. I also smear a very light coat of grey RVT on the  metal gaskets to hold them in place.

on the MP 8  we had an adapter to  to plug into the  cooler on the front side hose we would test with shop air in counter direction of flow anytime we removed that dam pipe ! Got  burned  too many times at the end of the day with a whistling gasket ! It is affectionately known as the asshole pipe here! In theory the EGR valve is closed so you can easily put air to it  turbo on or off! on certain models the egr cooler can be changed with out removing the turbo by removing the front engine mount! ( A tip )( if you don't have the set up Pro has mentioned there!  ) If your not sure where your leak is Could be exhaust or turbo gaskets start the engine get the sound happening and run a garden hose over all the joints the sound will change as you pass over the leak! Also Note you Can use that method on any of these egr eating engines once used this method on a Maxforce for what sounded like a bad turbo  turned out to be exhaust gaskets!

Just sayin!
