I have my show registration on the Pony Express and have a room in Cortland reserved..  Can I look for some of you to visit with??? Remember to keep the Mack logos undercover.. Some of the older die hard Brockway people still do NOT accept that Mack shut them down!!!!

I never drove a Brockway truck but I hauled a lot of lumber from Drake's Branch, Va. to Cortland. It was a 9hr. trip in that 9400 International I was driving. I always liked that run, especially after you passed the 81/78 split and kept on up 81 north, it was pretty up through there and not much traffic.

I'd get off of 81 at some exit, turn left and go into town, then turn right somewhere to get to the lumber treating place. The best part was they'd unload you early in the morning. I'd get unloaded about 6am but there wouldn't be anybody in the office at headquarters until 8, so I'd go back south a couple of exits to a little diner that had plenty of parking and have breakfast. It was either the pizza omelette or pancakes, every time. The pancakes were as big as the plate they were on, and delicious! The pizza omelette had about everything you'd get on a pizza- sausage, pepperoni, peppers, onions, mushrooms, etc- and it was delicious.

That was many years ago. The last time I was up that way the diner wasn't even there anymore.

have high hopes of making the 4 hr trip to Cortland this year. last year was worth the drive. this year things a little different; don't/can't plan too far ahead for such events.  missed  Deerfield/ Bethlehem / Macug Pa/ and Brooklyn this yr. basically didn't make one show. meeting Bob(mowerman)last yr there made the drive / show a real positive. will see how things are when day closer.

I felt kind of bad that I didn't really get to hang out with Bob at Macungie as much as I would have liked to, but on the other hand if I had and he had gotten as sick as I was I would have felt terrible.
