I noticed plenty of gear rollover noise when under load at a low rpm and would maybe try to muffle that a bit.

What do people put on the shifter sticks to quiet down the trans? Pipe foam or rubber hose or something similar?

I guess any kind of water pipe foam tubing. If neatness counts, i dont know whats out there..  have you checked the oil level in the tranny?

Gotcha! I will maybe pick up something and give it a try.

I just changed fluid in tranny and rear ends about a week ago so should be good. Amsoil 80w-90.

The noise is probably mostly from me shifting too soon and getting below the 1200 rpm mark. This Mack 6 speed is a nice transmission and dwell time between shifts isn’t as long as I was always led to believe. Besides my TDI Jetta, I mostly shift everything slow like a grain truck anyways. Even the NV5600 in my Dodge doesn’t like to be rushed.

I had never thought about this, it will be interesting to see how it goes and if it makes any difference

They are a fairly noisy transmission from my experience, but there's a lot going on inside with tripple counter shafts spinning

Glad the truck went good

Ha ha those photos deserve 10 likes. Thanks for that and yes, again the older  equipment was very noisy and the transmissions  all howled my DM  is very noisy on the highway, but yes, the new floors will definitely help out nowadays they have different insulation than they did originally…. They  come with a real thick foam underneath now … bob

pretty rims,  are those the right tires?  rims look wide, like for 315/385/ or 425's..  just curious.  really nice coating job for sure..

I think the photos make the rims look wider. They are 22.5x8.25.

Bauer Built tire has a wheel reconditioning service. Blast, primer, and powder coat $55 a wheel. They have about a dozen colors to choose from. I’m happy with how they turned out. Will post up pics once they are on the truck.

Wow you can't beat that price. They look as good as new. I had a couple of rims done at a local powder coat place @ $250 each.
