I purchased some led sq pedestal lights to replace the original turn signal lights that came on the 2000 RD. The lights I took off had red, black and white wires. The led lights had same colors and that is how I wired them up. The turn signal is real dim and doesn’t work when running lights are on. The running lights are very bright.  Never seen this wiring sequence before. Can someone explain how to wire these up?

Something isn’t working correctly. I have checked my ground, turn signal wire and running light wire. I have switched wires off light from turn to running lights and still no change. What am I missing here. On package it says black wire is running, red is turn and white is ground. This is the way I have it wired up. Either way I flip the wire exclude ground its still the same. Turn signal is week and running lights are bright. When running lights on the turns want work.

here is a photo of my flasher

Do you have LED's on the rear as well? That flasher is for incandescent bulbs and may not work on LED's. Most times you can get by with it if one or the other (front or rear) has incandescent bulbs.

Try getting a flasher that says it works with LED's It may have a ground wire on the flasher, I know some LED flashers do.

Incandescent flashers depend on an amount of current being drawn on the flasher to work, LED's just don't draw enough to make it function.

One 1157 with may be a dash indicator draw enough most of the time, but with all LED's the correct LED flasher is needed.

BTW I have used flashers like you have successfully on 6 volt trucks, by stretching the spring on the relay inside. they work more on "draw" than voltage, if there is enough current draw they don't care about the voltage so much.

LED's draw so little that they don't trigger the flasher to function.

Ok put a flasher that is compatible in truck with led’s got blinkers working on bright but when I turn the running lights on the turns dont work. This is probably where the relay comes in. Will need JoJo to explain that.

Bud,,  I dont know much at all about LED set ups. I think you have to get an LED controller.  I think some bulbs have little fans and computers built in to the bulb.  are you sure the light fixtures are grounded good? can you run a ground from inside the fixture, to a seperate ground?

This sounds like the ground is faulty, either the truck wiring or the lights themselves. Try running an external ground wire from a known good ground to the lamp and see if that solves the problems.

 You shouldn't need a relay with LED's
