You realize of course, this now makes you a commercial trucker! Your B will now be subject to all the rules!

Way to go! Chasing the dream and catching it!

What the govt doesn't know, won't hurt them.

I know and understand the great weekend of racing.. BUT If anyone asks you only race for TROPHIES!!!!! That way neither you or the truck are compensated..

Our SC state diesel cop stated that ribbons and trophies do NOT count, But breakfast or a case of beer do if moving someones vehicle for them.. About the only time it would matter is if you are involved in a serious accident and a lawsuit entails a smart a$$ lawyer!!!

All anyone knows is I'm going to a truck show.

About 21 yrs ago I used to have to hit the scales on my way to the one local dragstrip.  I did it twice a weekend if they happen to be open both days.  One time, I did get a red light so I went around back and came in.  Lady officer just wanted to see my license and insurance card.  I was good to go.  She was curious as to what I had in the trailer. I told her a 64 galaxie wagon.  She commented that her parents had a galaxie growing up and asked to see it.  I knew she was fishing for an excuse to see inside the trailer.  I opened it up, she glanced inside and said "neat, thanks".  I closed up and left.  Shortly they changed the sign to read "commercial trucks only".  I haven't stopped since.  Pennsylvania is still all trucks and have pulled in.  When in VA I also had to pull in.   Being a vintage looking truck, that looks well cared for, I don't get hassled.

I was wondering about that, if I drove the big green watermelon looking International to the show in Winchester would I have to stop at the scales?

I don't really want to drive it that far, might get ran over on 81. I'd  like to get it there though, hoping Wayne Ellis or somebody might be able to haul it up there for me.

Technically with Antique/Historic plates you do not have to stop, BUT as long as you are mechanically fine it is better to swing in so they can see the plate than it is to have them chase you down thinking you are running the scale.. Surprisingly many of them just want to look at an antique truck!!!! With my 3500 Dodge and 32 foot gooseneck trailer I by pass most of the scales.. In Iowa where the sign said "All Towed Vehicles" when the lady pulled me around back basically all she wanted to know was I was NOT Commercial..

Also if you go up 29 to Shady's then route 6 to 340 to above Winchester then cut over to 11 you will not have any scales or interstate traffic to worry about!!!

Yeah, I’m with you. I’d rather just pull in California and Nevada. Both have chaser cars ready for people blowing the scales. They’re over weight with airbrakes still a commercial..vehicle And they will chase you down more times than not at least around here…: bob
