Popular Post KentuckyAk101guy Posted August 5 Popular Post Share Posted August 5 Hey everyone, I am starting a new project of 3d printing a Mack RD888zx coal truck in 1:14 scale. Debating on whether or not to go full RC with it. I have already made a RC 1:16 Scale Pacific P16 log truck so I may just do a static model for this. Plan on basing it off the pictures in my post. Going with a smooth side bed for simplicity. Any suggestions or ideas is welcome, already have the cab and fenders/hood created on file. BOBWhite Posted August 5 Share Posted August 5 A guy from the Netherlands was trying to make a scale model of a Rd800 awhile back ago but he hasn't posted in a while. I also couldn't find many ads or spec sheets for the RD's. Are you AppalachianRust from YouTube? mechohaulic Posted August 5 Share Posted August 5 sure chose a fantastic model to experiment with. RD800 not only rugged looking but a little less "known" model. 1/14 out of my scale dept. I'm still in the infancy stage of 1/24 ==1/25. building for over 60 yrs. LOL I have got me quite a few 1/25 scale rigs as well. Just wanted to try a 1/14 scale one. I have some wheels and axles from an old Madill 009 yarder I built a while back. Converted it to tracks so I have some Dayton rims and offroad tires to play with.Speaking of less “known” Having moved to central from eastern Kentucky after my dad got hurt and the mines started shutting down, I doubt anyone around here knows the RD’s even exists. See an awful lot of R’s and F models around these parts. But back there they were everywhere, just about every 10wheel coal truck was a mack RD or Dm 600/800 I’d hedge a bet that 90% of them were macks the other 10 were international paystars or autocars. Couldn’t go a mile without seeing at least one on the road or in someone’s yard. I honestly miss seeing them.
