Straydog954 Posted August 9 Share Posted August 9 I am looking at an 07 Mack with 75000 mi and 8800 hrs. Because the odometer reads 75k miles would that be correct or is there any way that it could be more than what it’s showing? Also what problem does an illuminated orange lightening bolt on the dash stand for? It’s an MP7 engine. 67RModel Posted August 9 Share Posted August 9 Seems like a crazy amount of idling time. I was always told the average mph for a vocational truck such as a steel body dump or roll off operating a mix of suburban and city conditions would be somewhere in the 20-30mph range. Don't know what the use of this truck was but those numbers indicate a lifetime number of 8.5 mph. The ECM should have the information in it if it's what's actually on it. Mark T Posted August 9 Share Posted August 9 An AMI that's been (deAMIed) might pull better, but that MP7 is a pretty good little engine. They had injector cup issues , common problem for them. Overall, they were a dependable driver friendly engine, and fairly good on fuel . Still quite a few in service , for being offered one year and almost 20 years old now. JoeH Posted August 9 Share Posted August 9 What kind of truck are we talking about? I picked up a front cutoff with 3,900 hours and 14,000 miles. Was a NYC salt truck, had 3100 idle hours. JoeH Posted August 14 Share Posted August 14 I find that hard to believe. My '79 r686st doesn't have an hour meter it has an "engine revs x 100,000" meter. If you have a true hour meter on there then I expect it's not original, and not accurate.
