did the carrier style change ?? there should /might be the four (5/8 or metric) threaded holes on back side of carrier . rear rear bracket goes over/around the plate.front rear drop intermediate shaft install bracket reinstall driveshaft;;or am I on a "different page "/?

Yes Mech, the rear carierers are not drilled and pluged with short bolts any more.. Dont know what year that started, but it wasnt too long ago..  It is stupid..  it takes away options, I think that the rear output hole is eliminated too..  I guess if you wanted to build a tri-drive, you would have to buy new carrieers..

just mind boggling for me as an old man to see the cost cutting things happening in to days world. eliminating four bolt holes . bad as no more dip sticks on engines !!WTF  . picked up some brakes shoes for trailer 2 weeks ago ; had  to check box ::1-make sure right parts inside;; 2- see if hardware kits included= some aren't..  so glad i'm on short end of stick of life cycle. 

no predrilled or place to anchor bracket is a challenge wrong mounting will break / damage something. does this have light rears or something ??

They get studs and nuts in the carrier , don't they ?  Then a couple bolts go down into the housing.  That one's a easy one to fit a rod to. (carrier has holes)  Won't bother that single frame one bit as long as all the correct grade bolts are used and tightened as they should be.   ( your spring guy made a good suggestion )

these topics sure help an ole mans memory come back to life, 4 bolts are removed and the 4 studs installed with 5/8 fine thread nuts out /course thread in to housing  .. now I can't remember if it's "safe" to remove ALL 4 bolts same time or remove two and install two studs then remove other two bolts ???

both should be done. front rear end requires intermediate driveshaft to be disconnected from front rear output . NOT completely removed just front side to allow bracket to be installed. both rears will work together better having sway control on each.

If you send me the VIN or last 6 of it, I can see what Impact shows your truck having installed. I don't think I've seen a truck without a torque rod, regardless of suspension setup. That might be a case worth taking to Mack, just don't expect them to care. We don't have the Mack that cared about their image anymore.

I could be wrong, but I think a lot of those white dump trucks with the Ox bodies on them were made without torque rods. There were lots of places those trucks were cheaped out on. Most I saw up here looked like somebody glued a third axle on them to flip them as tri-axles. Then here in Pa @ 73000 pounds the rear suspension lasted about 2 weeks.  Where ever they were from down south, as tandems they must not have carried much.

Camelback can have

the transverse rods, i guess it depends if it was ordered that way or put on later.    terry  :MackLogo:

It depends on the load capacity.

I can judge by 80's years trucks and earlier times. Camelbacks of 38000 and lighter didn't have that traverse rod, only two from carriers to the central stand. A couple suspensions I have with thick spring leaves and brass trunnion bushings, my guess is #44000 are equipped with one transverse rod, at the RR carrier. the trucks are '88 DMM and "91 RD with heavy frame.

Also I don't remember seeing Camelbacks with transverse rods to both carriers. Air rides have them but that's a different story.
