My wife used to run of pizza joint and Truckee, California a lot of times they would run out of supplies customers complaining my wife would tell them that’s because the highway patrol holds trucks and heavy snowstorms on donner pass and lets the cars go through so you were able to get here but not the supplies OK why are we not letting the trucks through and hold the cars?

I grew up in Soviet Union and the big difference was our leaders banked on a rail system. America invested heavily on the highway system and people using cars, their own cars. Trucks, buses. America got it right.  That allowed the country and society to grow and prosper. It's more than just moving missiles and tanks. To this day, the extent of the highway system impresses me

It's so nice to hop in the old Mack and go for a ride now, and so many people enjoy seeing it. That makes it even better. I can't imagine what it was like doing it for 8 hrs (or more) in the blazing heat or freezing cold. And back then, there was nobody giving you a thumbs-up, they were probably all using another finger as you tried to climb a hill all loaded up, LOL. Seeing the footage of the guys driving the trucks when they were building the Hoover dam is pretty incredible. I wish there were more videos showing the old truck assembly lines and manufacturing plants.
