U.S. lawmakers introduced a bipartisan bill on Thursday that would revoke China's preferential trade status with the United States, phase in steep tariffs and end the "de minimis" exemption for low-value Chinese imports.

The bill, introduced by John Moolenaar, the Republican chair of the House of Representatives' select committee on China, comes after President Trump issued a memo on Monday asking his cabinet to assess legislation on the Permanent Normal Trade Relations (PNTR) designation for Beijing.

Congress approved PNTR for China in 2000 under Bill Clinton, paving the way for its entry into the World Trade Organization. But the U.S. has routinely found the large role of the state in China's economy, including hefty government subsidies for strategic industries, to violate the global trade body's rules.

"This gamble failed. This legislation will safeguard U.S. national security, enhance supply chain resilience, and bring manufacturing jobs back to America and our allies," says Moolenaar.

Trump, who has railed against China's vast trade surplus with the U.S., has vowed more duties on Chinese goods.

Moolenaar's Restoring Trade Fairness Act was co-sponsored by Democratic Representative Tom Suozzi and introduced with a companion bill in the Senate.

Moolenaar says granting China PNTR ushered in waves of Chinese imports, depleted U.S. manufacturing and made the U.S. susceptible to economic coercion from its foremost adversary.

naturalized women who have babies here bare babies that are u.s. citizens at birth

I don't think that is in question at all. Do you think the baby in the following scenario is a US Citizen?

A hypothetical plane on a direct flight from Caracas, Venezuela to Montreal, Canada has to make an emergency landing in Atlanta, Georgia. On that plane is a pregnant Venezuelan woman, who only has Venezuelan citizenship. While on the ground at the airport she goes into labor and is rushed to a hospital and her baby is born.

After all the mother is not a naturalized US citizen, and is not here through the legal process. BTW I'm not at all disagreeing with you. I am simply pointing out that something seemingly unquestionable ends up being clear as mud to the masses. If I'm not mistaken this was the premise of the questions surrounding Obama's citizenship. Something about his dad being a citizen of Kenya but his mom was a citizen of here on a visa and he was born on US soil? I can't recall the details.....

Perhaps, but most likely they were documented at the least .  The crazy nonsense that's been going on the last four years isn't all that relevant to the fourteenth amendment. If I'm not mistaken the fourteenth amendment was done during slavery.  Doesn't mean you sneak in, spawn and everyone is a star spangled citizen.  It's a huge overreach and it's long past the time it should be reeled in.

1st what makes you or I a citizen? If I were born with one parent a citizen and one not, does that make me 1/2 a citizen? If a similar child was born into such a family, and the citizen abandons the family does the child loose his citizenship?

We don't require our children to grow up and take citizen test before they are protected by the rights in the constitution.

No matter what, we consider the child an innocent, and receives the full protection of the constitution.

Regardless of the child having citizenship, it doesn't give that to the parents, if they were not already.

In our society, you are born a clean slate, not burden with the sins of your parents.

Our constitution put into writing that fact. Took it from subjective to a clear,"you are born here, you are a citizen" which applies as much to me as someone else. When I pop out onto US soil I am a citizen.

The ridiculous argument trying to evade the 14th is that the child is somehow not  subject to US law, but can be deported under the same US law?

The only foreigners not subject to US laws while here are "invited guests" of the state, Diplomats, their staff and foreign military personnel invited in for training. These people can not be held on most if not all US laws, military are dealt with in the military justus system and Diplomats can be expelled but not prosecuted. Children of these people born here are not US citizens, as they are not subject to US law. That is how the 14th is written.

Only Native Americans can claim their lineage weren't subjects of other countries, the rest of us came from somewhere else.

My Polish Grandparents were SENT  to this country 1912 due to both being twins ; which was considered  unlucky (???). They did NOT come here to live off the country but start a new life. which after years of farm life they did. amendments written yrs back where for the times. the last corrupt administration opening the doors (borders) basically saying " come on over everyone good or bad. "we" need the bodies to make phony voters. all you pregnant women get over here, this country will pay all the expense for your child. The new president is trying to straighten out too much too fast. maybe he knows 4yrs in office won't happen!

I don't think we have to mess with the Constitution. There are NGOs helping the illegals in. We just need to form NGOs to help persuade the illegals go back where they belong.

Think of it being a National Christian Organization, or something like NSF thing. If we keep the government out of it, it can be extremely effective.

Not sure why this is coming back out now. Still, most Americans don't know about it.

Probably because one of Trumps Executive Orders was to declassify everything remaining on the JFK assassination as well as stuff on RFK and MLK assassinations. I think many people are of the opinion the CIA assassinated JFK because he would not get on board with Northwoods among other things.

Jesus Christ, where do you come up with this stuff? Obama's mother was a white woman from Kansas, his Father from Kenya, and a student. His mom and father met in HI where he was a student. He was raised in Kansas by his grandparents.

There never was any question about it.

The Trump administration announced Friday that it is expanding a fast-track deportation authority nationwide, allowing immigration officers to deport migrants without appearing before a judge.

Meanwhile in New Jersey, Newark Mayor Ras Barakaover is whining over what he says was improper arrests of illegal aliens by federal immigration officers at a local business.

I was appalled, upset, angry that this could happen here, in this state, in this country. We’re going to fight for all of our residents in this city, no matter what that looks like for us.

Newark Mayor Ras Barakaover

Per Biden, Barakaover is being a good democrat.

JFK warned that “The very word ‘secrecy’ is repugnant in a free and open society; and we are as a people inherently and historically opposed to secrecy … We decided long ago that the dangers of excessive and unwarranted concealment of pertinent facts far outweighed the dangers which are cited to justify it.”

The 60-year strategy of lies and secrecy, disinformation, censorship, and defamation employed by Intel officials to obscure and suppress troubling facts about JFK’s assassination has provided the playbook for a series of subsequent crises — the MLK and RFK assassinations, Vietnam, 9/11, the Iraq war and COVID — that have each accelerated the subversion of our exemplary democracy by the Military/Medical Industrial Complex and pushed us further down the road toward totalitarianism.

“A nation that does not trust its people is a nation that is afraid of its people.”

A government that withholds information is inherently fearful of its citizens’ ability to make informed decisions and participate actively in democracy.

Thank you, President Trump for trusting American citizens and for taking the first step down the road towards reversing this disastrous trajectory. (i.e. declassification of the JFK assassination files)

I don't. 2011. Maybe you were living under a rock? Allow me:

President Obama's Long Form Birth Certificate | whitehouse.gov

From the linked press release from Obama's Whitehouse.gov page

Therefore, the President directed his counsel to review the legal authority for seeking access to the long form certificate and to request on that basis that the Hawaii State Department of Health make an exception to release a copy of his long form birth certificate. They granted that exception in part because of the tremendous volume of requests they had been getting.

Seems to me somebody must have been questioning it? I personally have never questioned it. Relax my man.

if i remember correctly the questioning of the certificate of live birth originally produced listed the name of a hospital that was not even built yet. but it was later determined that the name was used by a birth clinic that was on the site before the hospital was built, and the hospital adopted that name.

It says right on the form, his mother was from Kansas, not on any "visa".

That and the fact he was born in a US state both makes him a citizen
