Florida Republican Representative Maria Elvira Salazar has written DHS asking them to spare migrants who entered the country under Biden's humanitarian parole program.

Salazar represents a district in Miami-Dade County, which has the highest share of immigrants of any county in the nation (54.3% immigrants and 93% of them were born in Latin America).

Salazar asked DHS to protect migrants from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua and Venezuela (CHNV) who entered the country under the CHNV parole process.

Per CBP, 531,690 Cubans, Haitians, Nicaraguans and Venezuelans arrived under Biden's humanitarian parole program as of December.

The Trump administration is giving ICE the power to deport migrants who were allowed into the country temporarily under Biden-era programs including CHNV parole and the CBP One app.

(The Biden administration created the CHNV program in January 2023, allowing nationals from those countries to stay in the U.S. temporarily, up to two years, allegedly due to urgent humanitarian reasons and heightened instability. But taking people from those countries is a recipe for trouble. They should have remained and fixed their countries, orchestrating revolutions for better countries they can be proud to call "home".)

I strongly urge you to ensure that all Cubans paroled in under the CHNV program eligible for or with pending applications for the Cuban Adjustment Act are protected from deportation until their cases are fully resolved. Additionally, Venezuelans, Nicaraguans, and Haitians who arrived under the CHNV program, have no criminal record, and have applied for asylum through the proper legal channels should also be protected until their cases are fully resolved. Although President Biden originally created this program on dubious legal grounds and brought individuals here without a plan for their future, they were still enrolled under programs offered to them.

Maria Elvira Salazar

The DHS says:

The Biden-Harris Administration abused the humanitarian parole program to indiscriminately allow 1.5 million migrants to enter our country. This was all stopped on day one of the Trump Administration.

This action will return the humanitarian parole program to its original purpose of looking at migrants on a case-by-case basis.

Tulsi Gabbard, President Donald Trump’s pick to serve as director of national intelligence, will have a hearing before the Senate Intelligence Committee on Thursday.

“I do hope though that we won’t see anyone questioning her patriotism. You know, Hillary Clinton has basically called her a traitor in the past. This is a woman who served more than 20 years in our nation’s army. She’s passed five different background checks. I reviewed the latest one. It’s clean as a whistle. It’s fine for people to have policy differences and ask questions about those differences. I hope no one would impugn Ms. Gabbard’s patriotism or her integrity.”

Is the Air Force trying to embarrass Trump?

Nothing wrong with the Tuskegee Airmen nor the WASPs.

Associated Press / January 26, 2025

The Air Force has removed training courses with videos of its storied Tuskegee Airmen and the Women Airforce Service Pilots (WASPs), the female World War II pilots who were vital in ferrying warplanes for the military, to comply with the Trump administration’s crackdown on DEI initiatives.

The videos were shown to Air Force troops as part of DEI courses they took during basic military training.

In a statement, the Air Force confirmed the courses with those videos had been removed and said it “will fully execute and implement all directives outlined in the Executive Orders issued by the President, ensuring that they are carried out with utmost professionalism, efficiency and in alignment with national security objectives.”

The problem may not be with the historical videos themselves, but that they were used in Air Force basic military training DEI coursework. However, the lack of clearer guidance has sent the Air Force and other agencies scrambling to take the broadest approach to what content is removed to make sure they are in compliance.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio says Colombian President Gustavo Petro had initially authorized the deportation flights and then cancelled them "when the planes were in the air."

President Trump "has made it clear" that the US will "no longer be lied to nor taken advantage of".

Rubio says US sanctions and tariffs to be imposed on Colombia will illustrate that the administration is "unwavering in our commitment to end illegal immigration and bolster America's border security. It is the responsibility of each nation to take back their citizens who are illegally present in the United States in a serious and expeditious manner."

The consequences for Colombia in a trade war with the US could be grave, as the US is the Latin American country's number one trading partner. According to the US state department, more than $39.3 billion in bilateral goods and services were exchanged in 2022 with large investments in the mining and manufacturing sectors. The US's primary imports from Colombia include crude oil, coffee, and cut flowers.

This is typical behavior for those unhappy with the elimination of DEI - take it to the extreme.  The Tuskegee Airmen and the WASP's have nothing to do with DEI and these clowns know it!

President Trump on Sunday issued an executive order establishing a review council, made up of relevant federal leaders and distinguished individuals selected by Trump from outside government. to evaluate FEMA.

The council will hold its first public meeting within 90 days, and submit a report to President Trump within 180 days of the first meeting.

The Colombian government now agrees to allow US military flights carrying deported illegal aliens to land and offload there.

Today's events make clear to the world that America is respected again. The tariffs and sanctions which the Trump administration had threatened to impose on Colombia, should it not comply, would be held in reserve, and not signed, unless Colombia fails to honor this agreement. President Trump expects all other nations of the world to fully cooperate in accepting deportation of their citizens illegally present in the United States.

The honest truth is, I'm not on any social media.

Colombia said they would send one specific aircraft, the presidential plane, to pick up their illegal aliens and transport them back home. Petro demanded the illegals be treated "with dignity", adding that he would "never allow Colombians to be returned handcuffed on flights".

It appears Petro uses a KC767 (210 person capacity) for international flights, and a Boeing Business Jet (737) for regional flights.

The Trump administration has frozen the Department of Energy's activities pending a comprehensive review of its alignment with his priorities.

A memo from acting Energy Secretary Ingrid Kolb says the freeze affects grants, loans, procurement, studies, and even personnel decisions, effectively bringing the agency’s $50 billion budget to a standstill.

The halt is a direct shot at dismantling Biden-era climate policies. The DOE’s Loan Programs Office, holding $41.2 billion in conditional commitments to energy technology companies, now finds its purse strings tightly cinched. Other critical missions, like nuclear waste cleanup and maintenance of emergency crude reserves, are similarly on pause.

The order mirrors an earlier Trump directive freezing funds tied to Biden’s Inflation Reduction Act and a bipartisan infrastructure law, both of which allocated billions for clean energy initiatives.

Trump has made it clear that climate-focused spending is no longer a federal priority.

The Interior Department issued a similar freeze on wind and solar project leases on federal lands and waters.

While critics, including U.S. oil companies, have highlighted the President's seemingly contradictory approach to oil markets: pressuring OPEC to lower global oil prices while promoting "drill, baby, drill” in the states, his regulatory rollbacks and anti-renewable agenda appear to be a bone tossed to U.S. oil companies, clearing the way for fossil fuel development and potentially boosting their bottom lines, even as global oil dynamics remain a tug-of-war.

when you are up to your armpits in alligators,

it is hard to remember you only came in to drain the swamp..

I hear the air force did not do that. A single person did it. Some BS about DEI. and he just lumped the history lessons in with it. Pete Hegseth supposedly went right in and fixed it..  Well see..  Im sure a history lesson will be posted here soon..

It has been reported that, in her youth, LA Mayor Karen Bass praised Fidel Castro and had close associations with Cuba.

She traveled to Cuba in 1973 with an organization called the Venceremos Brigade to see Castro speak.

In 2016, when Castro died, she referred to him as 'commandante en jefe' (commander-in-chief) saying his passing was a 'great loss to the people of Cuba.'

She also reportedly gave a eulogy for a senior member of the Communist Party USA.

I heard Johnny Click - no, actually I read this morning that he caught the end of this on TV and wanted to see the whole thing. So I searched "The Day the Lights Went out" and it's on YouTube. Haven't watched it myself yet, but I'm going to.
