If you look at pictures of the real old days, you'll see many lic plates on one truck.

Then came the "bingo stamp" plate that had places for state issued stickers for each state. So you no longer need full size plates for each state, just that states "bingo stamp"

Today (I think, been out of it for a coupla years) Alaska is the only state or province that is not part of IRP, so trucks going to Alaska will have two lic plates, one from their home state and one from Alaska.

You can travel between the US and Canada under IRP plates. There are other requirements, but registration wise the IRP is valid in both countries.

This one shouldn't be a problem. Like you said, you can't assume anything. Like when they instruct you to fill in where it " axes " weights and such.

Yoi should ax them how much it cost to register an amberlance

Gotta love this screwed up state.  Got a letter today saying that they will not issue a title until an inspection of the VIN tag takes place by one of their inspectors.  They have clear pictures of everything, so this is always frustrating.

Half tempted to pull the door off, and bring that to them.  😡

This is a normal problem.. When I went from a Vermont antique registration to a South Carolina title on my 49 Diamond T 201, I had to do the same thing.. Made an appointment and the girl came out took a look at the VIN plate on the cowl and took a picture on HER phone.. She did not ask to see the number stamped in the the frame and I DID NOT suggest it to her!!!!

Naw, looks like something was drug out of the cab and scraped it.

When I bought my 64 galaxie2 dr from out of state I had to take to a dealership and have them check the VIN.  Car was not running, it was a PITA but it passed and I got a clear OH title.

Another story, was going to take my ATV to Hocking hills to ride with a group.  You have to have a state sticker and insurance.  When I bought it new in 99 it didn't have a title.  I had to load it and take to dealership for inspection.  They didn't even come out and look at it, just stamped paperwork.  Then go to state license bureau and they have to do it again(they never went out to look at it either).  What a PITA for nothing.  I get to park and they didn't inspect it either to confirm I had sticker and insurance.  What a joke.  All that for one trip, never been back.

when you are up to your armpits in alligators,

it is hard to remember you only came in to drain the swamp..

Yes, have a printed picture of the stamp in the frame that I will take along with the tag.   One could argue that the tag is illegible, but when you see those numbers on the frame, they match up pretty darn well.

I put the door on last night, because we have severe wind here today, and no tarp would have stayed on.
