Bob, all their trucks look that way, even the dump trucks that run asphalt every day.

his company and mine are about the only ones here in Jersey that wash their trucks every day before being put away for the night.

when you are up to your armpits in alligators,

it is hard to remember you only came in to drain the swamp..

I’ve heard some of the older fellas tell me about companies back in the day that used to require their drivers to clean their trucks every day or they would not get paid. Thanks for that TJ.

25 years ago l drove for a company that did redi-mix, precast, aggregates, and site work. lf you didn't wash at the end of the day you would be on it before you rolled out in the morning. We would be washing trucks, trailers, and mixers just like the mailman, rain or snow it didn't matter. And if you had a "nothing to do" moment you had better be cleaning the inside or polishing something! Back when it was fun!!    .....Hippy

We have two competing ready mix out fits here ! one union ,one non union ! The the non union place trucks are a joy to work on .the union shop not so much just caked with stalagmites ! If you got to work on anything you end up having to jack hammer off chucks to do so! makes me angry ! Glad I'm away from this stuff now! going on three years don't miss this BS!

I started working part time  for the company my father was shop steward at, H.M.Royal in Trenton, N.J. when I was 15. I was hired as a truck washer for the weekend and every tractor and straight truck was washed by hand both cab and frame/wheels. The windows were also cleaned inside and outside and the floors were swept too. All of their trucks were parked inside an enclosed garage every night unless on the road. They were a chemical distributor and once a year even their van and tanker trailers were steam cleaned including the frames above and under and the frames and wheels were repainted. The fleet was all Mack including A, B, F, R and aluminum tanks and dry vans. The cabs were first Mack green with red frames/wheels and later years went to white cabs with royal blue frames. That was many years ago but they were always clean for Monday morning.

I remember them back in the day. It was a nice looking fleet. We were the house trucking operation for Certified Steel when they were at Olden and Arctic 1621 North Olden. Our trucks all had Sepviva Street Warehouse on the door.
