Ok. Here we go. Rocker arm broke where the shaft goes thru it. No bent push rod. It seems to have broke at idle. The truck has over 700k on it. The keepers seem to be in great shape as if heads where redone. I'm wondering if there is another issue that cause rocket arm to break. Driver doesn't rev high ( actually he is very easy on truck) and not heavy on Jake brake. It was the exhaust rocker that broke. Is there anything else I should be looking for. There was a lot of banging noise and I can't see what was hitting what after removing Jake head and rocker shaft. I drained oil only to find 2 or 3 small flat pieces of metal. With 700k on bottom end I don't know if I should be alarmed with that I've seen worst in oil.

If it is yours and you are doing the work yourself, there are two way you can go, You can gamble and just replace the rocker and push rod and hope for the best, or you can go conservative, and pull the head. Depend on your risk adversity. If you go the cheap way, it may do it again and worse.

Inspect the rocker shaft for galling, and if any is found, suspect oiling problem on the rocker.

I had one crack/break on a Cummins injector rocker. I took the gamble and replaced just the rocker and pushrod, never had any further trouble.  It is a gamble.

If you are being paid, the only real answer is to pull it down and get to the source as why it happened.

Definitely check the shaft for gauling, common issue was the hold down bolts would loosen or break, and the plugs on the ends of the shaft would pop out and affect oil pressure.  Is there anything loose in the top that may have gotten wedged in the valve spring?

Not that i can see but o did notice a burnt smell up top which was weird. I took a rubber mallet and popped top of springs; everything seemed to be fine. What's gauling and how can I spot it?

Where the rockers pivot on the shaft. Deep scratches can happen, putting the rocker in a bind. You can here them chirping at times,  keep in touch.. jojo

Motor has 700k on it. I think I'm gonna due full rebuild.

I wouldn't replace a cam without all new followers. You got the pan down already, roll rods and mains in it. Cheap insurance
