All too far away for me to even think about. The only thing I'd even be interested in would have been the LT. But not for that price. I'm really more into the heavy spec L cabs

I didn't get a chance to watch the auction ending and just seeing the results now. Five figures? Hmmm..... Looks to me like these were all pulled out of a garage and not a lot of prep work was done prior to sale. I'll stand by my statement the C500 Kenworth that started this thread could be sold for $15000 or maybe a little more with the proper prep and marketing. Heck another forum member offered $10,000 for it having only seen 3 pictures of it.....

buyer may have paid more, but the seller didn't get it, so is a moot point.

If the truck in question was in THAT auction, it might bring more than the KW, but sold in a private sale, alone I don't think you'll see $15k. Most assuredly not $25k-$30k.

The KW was the closest in spec's and year to the truck in question, had a generator and living 1/4's which may or may not be something of value to the buyer.

The point I was trying to make is the buyers were willing to pay 10% more than what is shown.. That auction is representative of what I was originally saying. I never speculated a $25,000+ price.

I guess at the end of the day I'm not trying to convince anybody of anything. The OP asked what we thought it was worth. I firmly believe that KW would fetch $15,000 or maybe a little more. It would most likely take a little more effort than posting a for sale add with 5 pictures on Craigslist. Like I said someone else here offered $10,000 without even seeing it in person.

I'd like to see what the guy looks like that paid 41K for a 1970 359 with frame cracks from rust jacking and a small cam cummins

Even the 4 way aux is only rated for about 8000 ft lbs input

I just wonder if whoever bought it is going to rerail it or just weld it up and call it good. Or maybe neither?

The box truck had a lot of funky stuff going on with the frame too. It might have been a single axle tractor orginally. Looks like someone added a steel frame, tandem axle, torsion bar cut off to the original aluminum frame. Then they extended the cut off to accommodate the van body. Probably meaningless for a hobby truck but interesting to speculate....

Oh God, that frame splice is ugly. And the torsion bar is nothing but obsolete junk. They weren't all that good when they were brand new. Look at that sharp internal angle on the aluminum portion. That's just asking for a crack. That frame job looks like something you'd see on truck doing intermodal drayage in north jersey in the 1970's
