Greg S Posted January 2 Share Posted January 2 The gasket that is between the cover that hold the oil cooler and the block is leaking on my 2013 cxu 613 Mack with a mp8. I watched like 4 videos on YouTube, they were all leaking in the exact same spot as mine. Apparently it’s a common problem . When I put a new gasket in, do I use any kind of sealant on it? Mackpro Posted January 4 Share Posted January 4 There was a design change around your year model. The original MP8 side cover had a grove machined into it and a rubber sealing strip that went into the grove to form a seal/gasket. They updated the side cover to a smooth surface with a metal gasket with rubber seal made on the gasket. We've had several I had to order parts for, and I remember spending time researching TPI's to make sure I was ordering the right parts. Greg S Posted January 12 Author Share Posted January 12 So I got it all sealed up and fixed. Now my problem is that the steel tube from the front side of the oil cooler down to the oil filer housing leaks. I put new rubber rings in on both sides also. It seems like it doesn’t fit right. Like it’s tight. I did some research and the older mp8 had dowels pins on the oil filter housing. But mine doesn’t have that. If i loosen the oil filter housing bolts, will it have any play to adjust it to make it work? I pulled it back apart and resealed it. Same problem. Any thoughts? I'm remembering that we had to order a pipe for the last job we had like this. I don't have a part number thanks to Impact being down.
