I always was sure, after all the paperwork was done, after a level 1 inspection to point out the the inspector that 30 years after the auto slack mandate, brake problems were still the #1 equipment OOS fault, and my manuals passed! I just can't resist the dig!

If they aren't put on right, and never lubricated, they don't work for chit. And they are never lubricated because modern mechanics are allergic to grease guns. Hell, just look at the pictures in this thread. New slack, no grease, not in the slack, not in the cam bushings, not in the U Joints,,,,,

That's the modern way, need 20 torque wrenches and a micrometer to adjust a door hinge, 100,000 dollar snap on box, and not a grease gun in sight anywhere

The aux valve is the valve on the right. Left side red, middle yellow, right black.

It has a black knob and says auxiliary on the face. Although the new valve I put in it has a smaller rod diameter and the black (aux) knob won’t fit on it now. So the previous owner may have put a different valve in it.

I'm not dropping any noticeable pressure when engaging the yellow valve. I can only get it to stay engaged once I get the pressure up to 90. I have my governor set to 120 and the air dryer pops off accordingly.

re-reading it does seam different valves were used, knob not fitting the new valve is a dead give-a-way that the valves are not the same.

I think someone who knows and is close by is going to be needed to sort this out.
